South Carolina Technology Alliance Highlights Report
This report will provide you with a very good snap shot of many of the highlights and accomplishment over the last several years. Much has happened in the area of technology and the improved perception of our state as seen by our citizens, as well as, others outside our borders. SCTA has been recognized and awarded in our state, as well as regionally and nationally for our work in the various areas of our knowledge based innovation next economy. The SBA and the United States Department of Commerce recognized SCTA with their first VISION'S AWARD, the only state to be acknowledged for their work in the area of high tech start up entrepreneurial companies across our state.
The South Carolina Technology Alliance (SCTA) has also been recognized as on of the founders of the SCColumbiaTechnology Incubator, a founder of the South Carolina Investor Network (SKIN), for their work with the Greenwood Biotech Incubator, and they most recently received the Personal Achievement Award from the Columbia Information Technology Council and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
The SCTA was also instrumental in stopping our legislature from passing the CAPCO venture capital program which has recieved so much bad press in other states around the country. The impact this action has resulted in over $100 million in savings to our state. SCTA was also one of the catalyst a strong supporters of the Research Centers of Excellence as well as the Life Sciences Bill. They were also key sponsors and co-drafter of the South Carolina Capital Investment Act which passed both the House and the Senate with a most unusual and almost unheard of 100% approval from both the House and Senate.
