Belief Networks lands additional funding

December 17, 2008

CHARLESTON, SC?BeliefNetworks, which provides semantic intelligence and predictive analytics to Web publishers and advertising companies, has received an undisclosed amount of funding from Palmetto Investments and Exchange Group, a Charleston-based investment firm.

The company has raised $1.4 million in angel investments in a seed-round that is still open.

BeliefNetworks has built a solution for harvesting and analyzing all relevant data, structured and unstructured, in a given situation. The software fuses numeric data analysis such as machine learning and data mining, with symbolic methods such as semantic intelligence.

The software continuously learns and adapts, optimizing for events and actions most likely to occur in the future and the information exchange is authenticated to preserve data integrity, security and business rules.

The company recently told TechJournal South it wants to raise $3 million to $6 million.

The nine-employee company is hiring, according to CTO Ted Tanner.
